Bremen LaVille JV canceled
Recently, we have several staff and students who are being required to quarantine due to contact tracing. Cases of COVID are increasing in our area and there is community spread of the virus. However, please know that we will continue to stay open as much as possible. That is not to say that we will not be eventually forced to our virtual platform, but our intent is to continue as best we can. Should we become short-staffed and are unable to cover classrooms, we may consider moving BHS to virtual and focus our substitute efforts on BEMS. Our thought is that high school students are generally able to stay home unsupervised and are also better suited to continue their studies remotely. Please do your part to help us continue to serve our students in person. Hygiene, social distancing, mask wearing are simple things that can make a big difference. As always, a healthy lifestyle will also promote a strong immune system. Dr. Jim White Proud Superintendent

Words cannot express my appreciation of our community for its strong support of our referendum vote. Your generosity, and commitment to the health of our students (both mental and physical) are a beacon of hope during an otherwise dark year. My thoughts return to our three tenants, great expectations, caring school community and lastly, mutual respect. Again, thank-you for your support of our school and more importantly, our students. Students living in a household with someone being COVID tested, should NOT come to school AND quarantine at home until COVID results are obtained. Upon returning to school after quarantine and/or testing, you must provide the school nurse with the COVID lab results.

COVID-19 Update The following is a summary attempt to keep our school community fully informed since our last update: Two high school instructors are quarantining due to contact tracing. One middle school student tested positive resulting in two middle school teachers and 13 students quarantining as close contacts. Lastly, a community member affiliated with the Distinguished Young Women contest tested positive. We are currently investigating for potential close contacts. As usual, we are in communication with MCHD and taking their advice regarding any changes to our processes or if school would potentially need to be close (currently there no plans to do so). We have had a number issues starting before and continuing until after fall break. The following is a summary attempt to keep our school community fully informed: • One KG staff member tested positive. The entire grade-level, both staff and students, are being quarantined until October 27th. • One second-grade classroom, staff, and students are under quarantine until October 26th. • Two additional elementary staff members and one middle school staff member have tested positive. The timing of fall break precluded contact tracing. • Due to a positive result by an 8th grade student, 12 students have been quarantined due to contact tracing. We will continue to work with the MCHD and attempt to make the best decisions for the health of our students, staff, and community. Dr. Jim White Proud Superintendent

Basketball Cheer Tryout Announcement Basketball cheerleading will look a little different this year due to COVID-19. Because of social distancing protocols, we would like varsity and JV teams to stay smaller. Depending on how many individuals tryout, there may be a chance we have two different cheerleading teams that will alternate cheering home games. Given the indoor venue for basketball games, our conference and opponents are prohibiting cheerleaders to perform at away games. Although this season may look different than any before, we are still hoping for a fun cheerleading basketball season! Basketball sideline cheerleading tryouts will be the following days and times: Tuesday, October 27th: 4:30-6:30 Thursday, October 29th: 3:30-6:30 Tuesday will be a clinic day where the cheerleaders will learn a new cheer, chant, and review jumps and motions. Thursday, the cheerleaders will try out applying those skills. Any cheerleader interested in trying out, must complete the registration at: CHEER before October 27th. We will be meeting in Gym A on both try out days. If any cheerleaders have questions, they can email Head Coach Ali Matteson at amatteson@bps.k12.in.us.
