Happy National School Resource Officer Day!

Today, we celebrate Officer Wes, who is a vital part of our Bremen Public Schools family!

This year marks our first with a full-time School Resource Officer, and Officer Wes has been instrumental in building positive relationships with our students while ensuring a safe learning environment. He is so much more than security—he’s a mentor, an educator, and a friendly face in the hallways.

Thank you, Officer Wes, for pioneering this essential role at BPS! We appreciate your commitment to our students every single day.

This week, Mrs. Meister's Textiles, Apparel, & Merchandising class had the privilege of hosting Mrs. Sarai Jimenez, (BHS grad) and owner of Olive & Co. She shared her background and the journey of opening her retail salon and boutique with students. The class was then able to visit the store, scan and tag merchandise to stock, arrange a display, and even do a little shopping!

Student Spotlight: Casey Ton was awarded his Eagle Scout ranking at a Board of Review ceremony in Elkhart on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. For his project, he secured benches for the Bremen pickleball court. This involved researching benches, working with the Bremen Parks Department and the Bremen Pickleball Club, raising funds through community organizations, and then assembling and installing the benches. This summer, Casey will be traveling to New Mexico where he will hike at Philmont, a Scout camp, for two weeks. Casey and his group will hike over 60 miles, live outdoors, and carry all the supplies for the entire trip in a backpack. Casey, a junior at Bremen High School, plans to become an airline pilot after graduation. He is a three year member of the Bremen HS Baseball team and works part-time at the Wooden Peel.

Mrs. Marker-Miller’s 2nd graders wrapped up an *un-bee-lievable* honey bee unit! Students read *The Way of the Hive*, created bee-inspired art, designed “Save the Bees” posters, and learned from local beekeeper Mr. Chilton—plus enjoyed homemade honey and a sweet honey cake made by Mrs. DeJaegher.

We’re so proud of our buzzing junior conservationists!

We are proud to share that Officer Wes (SRO) and Mrs. Stillwell (HS Administrative Assistant) are taking a proactive lead in keeping our students safe!

They attended a 2-day conference and online training through the Indiana Office of School Safety to become certified School Safety Specialists.

By participating in this training, Officer Wes and Mrs. Stillwell are gaining the latest tools and strategies to enhance our emergency preparedness and maintain the supportive atmosphere our students deserve.

For the past week in Mr. Thornton's class, the students have spent the class periods designing and creating personalized CO2-powered cars. They were limited in size, where the cars had to be 12 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide, and 2 5/8 inches tall at the back. Aside from that, they were allowed to change the shape and design however they pleased. We then raced them at the end of the project in a bracket-style tournament to determine a winner.

Ever wonder why snow is white — or how to tell if it’s clean? ❄️ In Ms. Holmes’s first grade class, a student question during literacy sparked a hands-on investigation: students collected snow from around the school, observed their samples as they melted, and made discoveries together. We love science and curiosity-led learning!

Ms. Knisley’s Nutrition students enjoyed a little friendly competition during this week’s Cupcake Wars. Students were challenged to choose a theme, then create a backdrop that included six cupcakes decorated to blend with the theme. Judges volunteered to evaluate their work and as you can see they all did an amazing job! Great work guys!
