Book Discussion

On a cold, dark night in small-town Bremen, more than 80 people came together to talk about our kids' well-being. It was remarkable.

In partnership with Bowen Health and Bremen Public Library, we recently launched a One Book, One Community initiative centered around The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt.

Our kick-off event began at The Bremen Theatre with a screening of The Anxious Nation, followed by thoughtful discussion at The Wooden Peel. Sean Steinke and Rex Higham brought the popcorn, Bowen sponsored the pizza, and Mary Comparato provided the prompts.

Next up:
- Parents and educators will dive into Anxious Generation book studies
- Bremen Middle School students will read the kid-friendly companion book, The Amazing Generation
- The school will participate in more screen-free days
- On April 26th, we will host an expert panel featuring voices from healthcare, education, and government, including Rep. Jake Teshka and Dr. Tod Stillson

We know schools can’t tackle student mental health alone. But when a community shows up like this, it reminds us what’s possible when we work together.
