Jacob

Alumni Achievement: Jacob Bennitt (‘14) became a Nuclear Mechanic in the Navy after graduation. He was part of 2 deployments of the USS Harry S. Truman in the Arctic Circle, Mediterranean Sea, and Arabian Sea, with a total service of just over 9 years. 

For 3 years, Jacob was stationed in a Ballistic Missile Submarine that transitioned to a Moored Training Ship where he was part of a defueling process that took thousands of people and hours to accomplish. 

In 2024, Jacob joined the University of Notre Dame as a Power Plant Operator and became Shift Supervisor earlier this year. The power plant is responsible for generating steam, electricity, and water for campus. 

During his time in the Navy, Jacob was awarded 3 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (NAM). NAMs are awarded to Navy and Marine Corps personnel for meritorious service or achievement in either combat or non-combat situations.

He is married to Jensyn (Enders) Bennitt, and they have 2 boys: Landon (6 years old) and Layne (3 years old).
