Device Acquisition: All freshmen and students new to the school will receive their Chromebook (laptop) during 1st period class on Day #1 – Wed., Aug. 19th. Login information will be provided at that time; however, most students should be able to initially login with the same username and password that they have been using. Tech support can be acquired at the BHS Media Center after school starts, or by emailing email@example.com. Books/Resource Acquisition for Remote Learners: Remote learners should plan to pick up their textbooks and/or devices & resources needed for their courses from 3:30-6:00 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 17th or during the school day (8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.) on Tues., Aug. 18th. Enter the building through Door #1, and wear a face cover.
If you have a child that takes a medication during the school day you may drop that off to the elementary or high school office during normal office hours the rest of this week, and Monday and Tuesday of next week. For the safety of the children, and to limit possible exposure we are asking that you dispense morning medications at home. Check to make sure contact information is correct in harmony, and please consider putting the parent's employer name and phone number in there, as many people are not allowed to carry cell phones at their jobs.
7th and 8th grade math students: Your math teachers are requesting that you purchase a personal (small) whiteboard and dry erase markers. This includes virtual learners.
HS Schedules are now available for view through Harmony Family Access. You may also pay textbook rental and the computer insurance fee (which is included in your textbook rental fees) through Harmony or stop in the office M-F 8-3:30. If there are supplies needed for a specific class the teachers will communicate that on the first day of school. New students and freshman will receive their devices on the first day of school.

This year the Bomber Style Jacket (no hood) is available at 2 different price points. $188.25 for Leather Sleeves, $143.25 for Vinyl Sleeves. The surcoat length jacket with wool sleeves and zippered hood is $173.25. A minimum $100.00 deposit (cash, credit card, or check made out to Bremen Athletics) is required to place your order. High School: Elkhart Area Career Center(EACC) classes will begin virtual instruction on August 13th and continue in that format until at least 9/25. If clearance is given by the Elkhart Health Department, we will plan to resume the hybrid model on 9/28 with in-person instruction for Group A student.” Bremen High School is in Group A. Informational message for parents of Bremen K-8 students: Bremen Public Schools is preparing to welcome your children back to school for the upcoming school year. According to Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order, schools are permitted and encouraged to resume for the upcoming school year. The start of the school year has been delayed until Wednesday, August 19th. In-person and virtual classes will begin at 8:00 am on that day. All students will be expected to wear masks on the school buses and during the school day. Bremen Public Schools is offering a virtual learning option for students. Parents can find the link to sign up their child on the corporation’s website. The deadline for the virtual option is Friday, July 31st. All parents are expected to register their children for school using Harmony. This is a VITAL step for parents. Important items about the school year, including updating your contact and emergency information and selecting transportation needs must be completed. This is also where you will select the virtual option for your child. The deadline for registering your children in Harmony is Friday, August 7th. Each family will be expected to self-screen at home for symptoms of COVID-19. If individuals are sick, then they should NOT come to school. Students and staff must be fever-free for 72 hours (without the use of medication) before returning to school. If a staff member or student has an immediate family or household member that is COVID-19 positive, that staff member or student’s parent or guardian must notify the school . The use of water fountains will be for bottle or cup refills only. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school with them each day. Football sideline cheerleader tryouts will be the following days and times: Monday, July 20th: 2:00-4:00 Wednesday, July 22nd: 2:00-4:00 Thursday, July 23rd: 2:00-5:00 Monday and Wednesday will be clinic days where the cheerleaders will learn a new cheer, sideline dance, and review jumps and motions. Bremen High School will not be offering summer school on campus, BUT online classes are available for students needing additional credits to become eligible for the fall sports season. In order to enroll in an online class, students must register with the Bremen High School Guidance Department (546-3511) no later than Friday, June 5th. There is a $50 charge for each online class; however, the fee will be reimbursed if the student receives a passing grade. Seniors! We cleaned out your lockers, you may come get your items until 3:00p.m. today, otherwise you can get it at the Superintendent's Office on Sunday before Commencement!
Student Locker Contents: During the first two weeks of June, until June 12, students can call the BHS Office (546-3511) and designate a specific time for locker contents to be picked up between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Mon.-Fri.). The BHS Office Staff will collect the locker contents and meet you at Door #1 at the specified time.
School-Owned Books: All BHS students should turn in their textbooks and library books to the BHS Office 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Door #1 of BHS, until June 12.
TBR: Students with outstanding textbook rental and computer damages may still make a payment to the High School Office. Check, card and exact cash will be accepted Monday-Friday 8-3:30 until June 12th. After June 12th, payments will need to be taken to the Central Office, across from the high school. If you indicated during scheduling with your counselor this spring that you would like to take a summer course ONLINE, you WERE enrolled. Please be sure to check your school email on June 8th, the start of the summer session to find your username/password information if this is your first online class. Look for an email from Indiana Online Academy. Check your junk mail if you can't find it. If you have taken previous online courses, use your same login information. If you indicated you wanted to take a summer school class AT THE SCHOOL, please let your counselor know ASAP if you want to take that course online. We will help you through the registration process. THE FINAL DAY TO ENROLL ONLINE IS JUNE 5TH! See the attached sheet for more information. Please check with your counselor if you have any questions.
Valid physical and consent forms that were presented to the Bremen Athletic Office during the 2019-20 school year will roll-over as valid for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. The IHSAA is not requiring a new Physical be obtained for 2020-21, if you had one on file with the school for 2019-20. BEMS yearbooks have arrived! Distribution will be next week on the bus drive: Tuesday (6/2) from 1-2 pm; Wednesday (6/3) from 9-10 am; Wednesday (6/4) from 5-6 pm.
Fall MS cross country: Since we were not able to do a traditional call out meeting this year, any student considering running cross country this fall that will be in grades 6-8 needs to go to http://bmscross.weebly.com/ to fill out a contact from to receive any team notifications over the summer about the approaching season.

To Parents of BHS Seniors Regarding BHS Outdoor Commencement on Sun., May 31: • One vehicle (preferably a car) will be permitted in the Senior Line-up for the Bremen High School Commencement scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sun., May 31 (unless the Principal has already granted an exception for a 2nd vehicle). The Senior should plan to ride in the front passenger seat for easy access to the stage on Grant Street. • Each Senior’s decorated vehicle should plan to line up at approximately 1:25 p.m. on South Street (preferably entering South Street at the Bowen Avenue intersection) where BHS faculty members will use window markers to place a large number on the front and back window of each vehicle and then direct them into the proper order for each Senior to receive his/her diploma. • One family member, adhering to social distancing guidelines and avoiding the school’s photographers, should be the designated photographer to exit the family vehicle to capture the diploma-receiving moment; however, no pedestrian spectators will be permitted close to the stage on Grant Street. • All spectators on Grant Street (in front of BHS) must be passengers in the Senior’s vehicle, and no one is permitted to be on school property (the school’s front yard or parking lot). • The Graduation Ceremony will be broadcast live on Facebook (Bremen Public Schools site) and radio (Max 98.3 F). • Prior to the ceremony, at approximately 1:35 p.m., a link will be made accessible on the BPS Facebook site to watch the pre-recorded Senior Class Video and any pre-recorded music performances – both created by the Seniors. • Following the ceremony, at approximately 2:40 p.m., a Senior Cruise will occur involving all of the Seniors’ decorated vehicles. The route will be from the intersection of Bowen Ave. & Plymouth St. to Woodies Lane ending at the large parking lot of Jane’s Park.

The Summer Math Challenge is a six-week online free math skills maintenance program for students who have just completed grades 1-8. Commencement: To-date, Commencement has not been cancelled. We are hoping for an outdoor ceremony on Bunge Field/Nierste Track on Sun., May 31st. I plan to meet with the Senior Class Officers during the week of May 4th to discuss contingency plans regarding awarding of diplomas & scholarships to The Class of 2020.
Dollars For Scholars Scholarship Application Deadline Extended (again): The Dollars For Scholars Scholarship Application deadline has been extended to May 1st. Currently, there are approximately 30 students with completed profiles. You MUST request that your transcript information be uploaded in order for all of the scholarships to be opened up to you. Please contact Mrs. Atkins (firstname.lastname@example.org) to fill out this information. There are approximately 55 scholarships totaling $62,000 that is available to The Class of 2020. Do not forfeit this opportunity to receive some cash for college or a trade school.
