At Bremen Public Schools, we always strive to obtain the most benefit for every tax dollar we spend. In continuing with this history, we have recently expanded our efforts to conserve electricity, lower costs, and be as efficient as possible. This summer, I personally put on a tool belt and installed over 4,500 LED lights in our elementary/middle school area. As part of this process, existing light fixtures were rewired, and the ballasts were removed lowering the electrical draw in increasing the efficiency of our lighting systems. Completing the task in house lowered the overall installation costs and immediately improved the return on investment. It is my intention to continue retrofitting throughout the remaining link and high school areas. When completed, we estimate the installation of over 8,000 bulbs with an annual savings of over $20,000.
Stay tuned, as this is just the beginning of our efforts to make BPS a smart consumer of energy.
