Technology Vision

All Bremen Public School students are knowledgeable and comfortable using technology for any purpose. Students will use engaging technologies in collaborative, inquiry-based learning environments with teachers who are willing and able to use technology's power to assist them in transforming knowledge and skills into products, solutions, and new information.

 Technology Mission Statement

Bremen Public Schools will provide a technology rich learning environment where students acquire the skills necessary to utilize ever-changing technologies to learn, to work, and to enhance and enrich their lives.

 Technology Goals

Per the district's strategic plan, the following long-range goals have been developed for technology. 1. Expand the use of technology as a teaching and learning tool.  2. Use data to drive instructional decisions.  3. Continuously improve home/school/community communications.

Technology Standards

Standards are the uniform technologies, both hardware and software, which are deployed to the general workforce. Regulations regarding use of the technology as well as rules for the appropriate use of our network and network services can also be considered standards. Consistency in network and desktop structure makes for more efficient use of time when troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Allowing a variety of non-standard hardware and software configurations makes technical support very difficult. Established practices and guidelines for equipment purchases, software licensing/usage, and for following network rules and regulations are pivotal to the support and success of the technical work environment.

BPS has standardized on Dell class machines, with few exceptions made for applications that are required to run on Macintosh OSX as well as vendor appliances. The technology department staff researches, analyzes, and processes all BPS technology-related hardware and software purchases. Standards compliance and appropriate cost effective technology acquisition are two of the most important functions of tech acquisitions. Department/school/teacher requests and needs are filtered through the technology director to ensure purchasing regulations are adhered to. Software Volume License Agreements for commonly purchased software programs from Adobe & Microsoft are also managed by the technology director.
